Went to this club for the first time today, so time will tell how some things will stand the test of time. First, as a new club, it's indeed spacious, nicely air-conditioned with plenty of natural light. It was very clean and the cleaning personnel was very nice too. I do think the club is very well equipped (I just wish we could get a punching bag, but that would be extra). So why the 4 stars? Two reasons:
- The showers: in the men's locker room, there are only 4. 2 facing the other two. No curtains to speak of. Actual space is quite limited, and that's an absolute shame. Also, when you open the door to the locker room, there's a see-through wooden fence, so you can easily see people changing inside. The fence looks nice, but it doesn't protect your privacy.
- I didn't see a lift at all. Which means that if you're on a wheelchair and you want to use machines to work out your arms, this is yet another Non-Stop Gym that won't accomodate your needs.
Finally, something that I know is not under the direct control of the gym, but that I'd love to see them rally their resources to make it happen: parallel to the road this gym is on, is the Pierrefleur road. There is technically a connection between the forest in parc du désert and this gym, but it's perelious during the winter and rainy days due to how steep and muddy it is. If you could get the city to pave that path and make it safer, it would cut the distance one would have to walk to get to your gym. For example, I live 250m away from this gym. If there was a safer path, I could get there in 4 minutes even in the winter. Without that path, I need to walk and climb 20 min, or take 2 buses for pretty much the same travel time. Which for me completely destroys the major advantage this gym would have compared to the one at flon that is 30min away on foot, or 15min using the bus. Please, *please* see what you can do Non-stop. 🙂
